SCHOOLCRAFT: CRADLE OF FILTH s newest addition on Rock Overdose!
Yup, as most of you should know by now, Cradle Of Filth have recruited a new member for their live performances. Canadian multi-instrumentalist LindsaySchoolcraft, singer and songwriter of her own solo project Schoolcraft, is the new keyboardist for the British extreme metal band, and is also going to assist them on their backing vocals. Wanna know some things more about the woman whose audition tape got picked in the end? Sure you do! Enjoy the interview on Rock Overdose below. Don't forget to check her "Quick Nymphetamine Fix" in the end!
Rockoverdose.gr: Hello Lindsay, welcome to Rock Overdose. So you are the new Cradle Of Filth member! How do you feel about this? What was your reaction when they told you that you "got" the job?
Hey Rock Overdose! Thank you so much for having me. Honestly it's a dream come true and something I never thought would come my way. I am honored and really looking forward to performing with the band.
Rockoverdose.gr: Would you like to describe to us your first rehearsal with COF?
I haven't had my first rehearsal yet. It will be in 2 weeks in New York city! Currently I am at home learning the songs by ear.
Rockoverdose.gr: What's the favorite song of COF?
I really love singing along to Nymphetamine, but I am really liking the energy in Born In A Burial Gown.
Rockoverdose.gr: You have also your very own project Schoolcraft, how did you come up with the idea creating a project?
Going solo came to me at a time in my life where I realized I could write on my own and was comfortable outside of the band setting. I gave the project my Native American last name as tribute to my ancestors and a blood line I am very proud of.
Rockoverdose.gr: What are your influences in music?
My biggest influences would have to be Amy Lee of Evanescence and Bjork. I also really admire Jessicka Addams from Jack Off Jill and Scarling. These woman have all taught me how to embrace who I am and just go with it. Even if you are different and people think you are weird, that's ok because you are expressing an art form that is a true reflection of yourself. Amy Lee is a big influence on me for singing, Bjork for song writing and harp, and Jessicka for her artistic I-don't-care-what-you-think-of-me attitude. Chibi from The Birthday Massacre has also always been a big influence on me. Other bands like VAST, Nightwish, Dimmu Borgir, LEAH, Epica, Daedalean Complex, We Are The Fallen, Wintersun, Eluveitie, just to name a few...
Rockoverdose.gr: With which other artists you would like to collaboarte with?
I have always dreamed of singing a duet with Amy Lee or Sharon Den Adel. I would also one day really like to write music with Ben Moody or Jon Crosby of VAST.
Rockoverdose.gr: What are your plans for the future?
Right now I head off on tour with Cradle Of Filth and whenever I get home I will be back to working hard on recording a new release from Schoolcraft. I will also get back to the love of my life: my Harp.
Rockoverdose.gr: Thank you Lindsay for the interview, you can close as you wish
Thank you for having me and I just wanted to say hello to all the Cradle Of Filth fans and that I look forward to rocking out with you soon!
